For many years the black Shetland Pony called "Paddington" has been with the Charity having been rescued many years ago. Paddington has spent many happy years on loan with Truda Proctor who lived nearby at Brede. This year, '07, Truda sold up her place here in Sussex and moved lock stock & barrel to France, not far from Boulogne, where she purchased a small farm.
Truda dearly loved to continue to have Paddington on loan and, as it was such a pertfect home, the Trustees agreed. Paddington was duly picked up from Brede where here walked sedately into the trailer, and then on to Dover with Dinty and Tony.
Glossing over the ordeal of arranging export licence, vet inspection, numerous phone calls, faxes, emails Dinty & Tony had a very pleasant and smooth crossing with Seafrance who were much cheaper than P&O. Indeed, it was Seafrance that have not only donated cross-Channel trips as raffle prizes to Brownbread but have also

agreed a discount for ALL the members of the Friends Group. So if you want to cross the Channel. give Brownbread a ring and we will provide a secret code for you to get a reduced fare. Thank you Seafrance!
Paddington enjoyed munching his hay during the crossing and on driving off "Seafrance Cezanne" at Calais Paddington suddenly became a French resident! It took just 15 minutes to rendezvous with Truda at Junction 38 on route 16. Truda then lead us to her farm and Paddington walked out as if he had just moved from one field at Brede to an adjacent field at Brede. (picture of Paddington with Truda & Dinty)
Paddington immediately checked the bounds to his new 2 1/2 acre field then put his head down to enjoy the lush grass. The next day Paddington's new friend, a horse that Truda just bought, arrived; they immediately sniffed each other, no kicking, just a few snorts of "hiyah" and then both heads down to get on with the business of eating sweet grass.
